Funding and Donations

New Horizon Special School does not receive Government grant, but is funded by modest school fees, proceeds from the school shop, fund raising activities and donations from individuals and organizations.

The school can hold 200 pupils in the education section and sheltered workshops. An intake of this level will require more teachers, craft instructors, physiotherapist and a speech therapist. The school however cannot afford such increase in staff due to lack of funds.

Need for funds:
Many of the children come from poor homes who cannot bear the burden of increased fees and transport fares. Anytime the fees are raised some children drop out. Yet these and many more of such children need the special education and vocational training offered by the school.

Presently some of the students have been offered bursaries by the school but many more need assistance.

The school has also embarked on Adopt-a-student programme where needy children are given individual sponsorship so that they can attend New Horizon Special School.

Some of the needy students who dropped out of school because of increase in school fees have returned and a number of new needy ones are being sponsored.
